About Hangzhou

Hangzhou, a relatively small city nearby Shanghai. For the most people, Hangzhou just is a lovely city with a beautiful lake to travel. But if you have spent 4 years at China Academy of Art here, Hangzhou means much more than that.

After 6 years living in Germany, I returned to Hangzhou. Of course here is changed a lot also. Everything is both familiar and foreign for me. Our hostel was a 10 minute walk from the lake. That first afternoon we walked to West Lake. The part of the lake walked along it, but it wasn’t exactly like walking down memory lane. The first few days I have been in the restoration of memory. Between those very new old-styles houses, it's a kind of very complicated feeling . I didn’t take many pictures; maybe pictures would make me see more fuzzy.

My university has been expanded many times and added a lot of departments. Such as Experimental art, New Media and Art in public space. These new departments are growing fast. Other side the traditional departments are Strengthening international exchanges. There is an Exhibition at university gallery about Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from Japanese and Chinese artists. It looks pretty nice.
